I need an addon that Allows product registration and creates an order number. That way it functions with our current rma add on to process a replacement.

As for the one that you use - contact the vendor directly/ open a support ticket with them. They should be able to help directly, once you describe the problem in detail.

We have been trying to get the pandawebstudio one to work, but haven't had luck yet. We have store locations so need the ability for a customer to register their product and have it generate an order number. Theirs generates a serial number. We also have the complexity of using configurable products with +/- 115 diiferent simple proucts associated. Essentially it makes it difficult for anything dealing with product to work easily. I would love to be a sucess story for it, but that hasn't happened yet and I don't know magento well enough yet to make that work myself. Those modules may help to make this work. If anyone finds anything else that could help please let me know. I'm desperate to make this work.

Custom Order Number is one of the most idea extensions for your case because this module allows you to change the order number, invoice number, shipment number, and credit memo number within clicks.

You can try Magento 2 Custom Order Number extension. Admin can change order number,  invoice, shipment numbers using prefix and custom starting numbers with this extension.
