Grouped Products

Hi,

I would like my grouped items (http://www.hcscrafts.com/index.php/king-cole-opium-palette.html) to display with thumbnails, a drop down box and to auto update like these pages http://www.loveknitting.com/king-cole-opium-pallette and http://www.blacksheepwools.com/king-cole-opium.html.

Looking at the source code of these and other similar sites they all seem to deal with it in the same way so I guess there is a extention for this I just can't find it anyone have any ideas please??????

You might want to try using the Configurable Product type instead. There are extensions that change the main product image to the color selected, but you'd need to be using Configurable Products (or perhaps Simple with Custom Options).

For grouped products, a customer could order 1 of Color A, 3 of Color B, and more, adding all to the cart at the same time. So changing the image could be confusing.  I personally view Grouped products as more for "Collections" rather than for color choices.

As for extensions you can try this Dynamic Product Options extension for Magento that can help to create different kind of style or type of options for products, both simple and complex ones. There is a WYSIWYG editor for creating and managing these options. You will be provided with various types of fields: input box, text area, drop-down, checkbox(es), radio buttons, file upload, date and time, image as described above.
