There is an option to use the Quick Buy + AJAX Search extension for Magento that provides ability to search fast (AJAX) for the products using either titles, or SKU, or category, or description. Customers can select the mandatory custom options directly within the created list, set the quantities - which changes the price in real time - and all the whole list together to the shopping cart.

Also you may try the AJAX Cart extension for Magento.

It has the following features:

• New products added to the cart immediately
• Products’ options and quantity selected in modal window
• No redirects
• Instant access to products on-hover
• Ability to edit options or delete
