Tracking royalties

Hi everyone, 

I'm trying to create a bookstore and I need to find the best way to track royalties. The books I sell require that I pay a royalty to the authors. 

Is there any extension that can allow that ? or something close ?

Can you provide details of how it should work?

Maybe it is possible to write a custom code for it until you find a better solution.
