I found this extension helpful for live chat: https://marketplace.magento.com/beeketing-magento-beeketing.html

It is integrated with Facebook. that means you can chat with customers from your Facebook page instead of logging another tool. I find it more convenient because I spend most of my time checking and manage my fb ads.

They do have other advanced feature but for me, the live-chat feature is more than enough. And it's free.
