Database connection error.

I am getting this error on install of magento on XAMPP. I have created the database in my php and set my username and password. What am I missing here?

Accidently clicked the "Me Too" button! Didn't know what it did, i do now. Learn somthing new everyday eh!

Okay, can you post a screen shot of the error or let me know exactly what it says?

I was able to resolve this turns out I was using the wrong username/password although I thought I had updated it. Problem is fixed now I have other questions

I was going to suggest to double check your database user credentials.

I received same error.

All credintials were correct.

Ended up having to degrade my PHP from 5.4 to 5.3.

I am using 1.9.1 and my site is not connecting to my database, is there anyway to access the settings from admin page?
How do I know if magento is accessing database and are there any settings I can control?

I am not a tech person so simple terms if possible..

What error message are you getting Steven? Is this during install?

I installed fine, but I am not getting any of the information from the database.

I have a 1gig database, I had created a store and am using old database with new install.

I get no error messages so I am not sure what is going on.
