Demo store not displaying content as expected

Hi there,

I freshly installed the latest magento site and demo data. My NginX config is exactly as in https://wiki.magento.com/display/m1wiki/Configuring+nginx+for+Magento+1.x

When i click on "SALES" or "VIP" in the demo store. Products are shown. If i click on "WOMEN", "MEN", "ACCESSORIES", or "HOME & DECOR", no products are shown. If i click a subcategory in the latter sections, products do show up. Everything else seems to work fine (so far)

Any ideas on what might be the issue here?

Still no response

Doesn't anyone have any idea? Do you need more info? Can anyone point me in the right direction for investigation maybe?
