Errors by clicking menu items in the admin panel

I installed magento 1.9.2.3 (my provider does not support php 5.5).
If I log into the backend I almost can't click any menu items without getting an error.

How can I fix that?

Please check browser console for any java script errors. If exists update your question with those errors.

thanks so far. I debugged with Firefox. From the dashboard I clickt to one of the menu items but no JavaScript error occured.

Does your Magento has java script merge feature enabled?

Could you post page source view of you Magento admin with your question.

in the sourcecode I can see that merge is disabled, but I can not access this menu item in the admin panel.

But anyway, I thought this is a very simple common problem. I now will make a new installation und if it still not works, I will wait until my provider installs php 5.5  or maybe I will look for another one.
