New install CE 1.9.1 404 error accessing admin or sub pages

Installed CE 1.9.1.0 and the sample data on a test server running ClearOS 7.1 Beta2. ClearOS is based on Cent OS 7 and RHEL 7 permissions are set Directories 700 files 600 with apache as the owner To acces my admin page is I use 192.168.2.60/magento/admin I get the error The requested URL /magneto/admin was not found on this server. if I change to 192.168.2.60/magneto.index.php/admin the admin log in page is available. The same problem ocures if i log into 192.168.2.60/magento I get the sample store main page but if i try to look at any pages from the menu's I get a 404 error The requested URL /magento/women.html was not found on this server but again if I use /magento/index.php/women.html I can access the required page, this ocure's with all sub pages I have tried Where do I look to see what I've don wrong with the instalaqtion which I've tried several times to try to fix

Re: New install CE 1.9.1 404 error accessing admin or sub pages

Hi @Hackdriver, can you please verify you're using the same spelling of "magento" in both URLs? In your example the error message is including a misspelling of "magENto" as "magNEto" (as in X-Men, not ecommerce).

It may not be this simple, but if the URL is typed incorrectly then that's a simple fix. Smiley Happy

Re: New install CE 1.9.1 404 error accessing admin or sub pages

I suspect a typo with size 12 fingers doing the typing the following URL's are cut and pasted to avoid that problem

The first URL

http://192.168.2.60/magento/admin

The error message on the browser screen

The requested URL /magento/admin was not found on this server.

if I change to this it works

 http://192.168.2.60/magento/index.php/admin

and I get the log in page for admin.

The problem is consistent on all pages accessed from the splash/main page menu's and the admin page.

Any suggestions,  do I need to provide further information if so what?

Re: New install CE 1.9.1 404 error accessing admin or sub pages

I reinstalled Magento to a different server running ClearOS 6.6.0 Professional, this install works correctly on the internal LAN but if I use domain.com/magento it is resolved to 192.168.2.1/magento on the internal LAN this is not a problem but when i try to access the site externally I get the server  stopped responding error with the internal IP address in place of the server domain name.

I have Concrete5 also installed on this server in its own sub directory and this works correctly and can be accessed externally

Being new to this I can't find what's wrong, have I made a mistake with the installation
