Hi.
There are many differences.
Your best bet is to read through the wealth of online documentation. The official docs are quite good (http://devdocs.magento.com/) but there are a number of other resources out there.
I started my own series on developing Magento 2 modules https://www.iwebsolutions.co.uk/2015/07/creating-a-magento-2-module/ (shameless plug)
There is also a great new article by Ash Smith from Meanbee https://www.ashsmith.io/magento2/module-from-scratch-introduction/

Magento has always proved its mantle in the battlefield of ecommerce, providing the best features in its services and products. Now with the launch of its new platform Magento 2, a debate about adopting it as the superior ecommerce solution has taken the podium. The primary question that is holding back the Magento 1x community is simple, why move to new one when we can do fine where we are?
Here is a comparison between Magento 1 and Magento 2 to understand whether you need to upgrade or not: Magento 1 vs Magento 2
