Timeframe to a workable version of Magento 2.0

Is there an estimated timeline for a fully functional Magento 2.x ?

The current version is more of a beta and is not being supported by most extension writers. I was hoping to develop our new site in 2.0 but can't wait much longer. If it's only going to be a month or 2, I will hold off.

I expect a half of the currently popular Magento 1.x extensions will be prorted to Magento 2 in a year from now.

Obviously, they will not be ported in a month or two.
