Actually magento and prestashop are different frameworks and different functionalities they are having. But both are supported for nay ecommerce websites. Let me know what do you need in both?

Based on my experience specifically for a middle size store - I would say Magento have more advanced features compare to other frameworks.

Still, adaptability of the framework is always depends on the requirement's of client.

so go with the framework where you will require to do minimal customization and the framework who gives you more flexibility in terms of the customization , extendablity etc.
