v2.1.3 Installation Fails At 50%

Hi all,

I am trying to set up the above version of Magento and am getting the following error each time I run the installation. If anyone could help me out with why I would be very grateful:-

Are you installing a fresh instance on Magento?

What is the server configuration you are using? like php version etc.

Further are you upgrading the installation or are you trying to do fresh installation?

I installed it without any errors on Ubuntu 16.0.4. What is your hardware and software configuration?

It's a fresh installation and the php version my webhost provides is 5.6.34.

OK, worked the problem out. I needed to delete the database I had created for the shop as the install had previously failed at 27%. A fresh, new database has seen the install wiz past the 50% mark..................and get stuck at 61%.

So I deleted the database again, started over.

And got stuck at 73% this time.

I think I see where this is going.

Think I have finally sussed it.

The error I was reporting was because the installation had failed and I started it again without having first deleted/removed data from the database so when I tried to reinstall Magento it was kicking up a duplicate entry error.

The issue where the installation just hangs at X% with no error seems to be a known issue with Magento suggesting that the max_execution_time parameter being set to 18000 (my webhosts currently have it set to 30). Will contact them to ask them to change this (I don't have access to the php.ini file) and will report back if this solves the issue.

In a word, no.

Have been told that because I am on a shared hosting deal the parameter cannot be changed as it would affect all websites on the server. Have also been told that if I want to be able to change it I need a dedicated, premium hosting package costing £300 a year so it looks like I will have to forget using Magento until the developers fix this issue.
