Just wondering if you have thought of this or are already doing it? If not perhaps something worth thinking about?
I have been following and using M2 since its release in Nov-15;
Every release brings some bugs / issues - expected, thats software and M2 is a complex piece of software - no criticism there;
Why not before release have 10 or so merchants who can try with their database on their staging / UAT servers - go through the process of doing the upgrade. Then test agreed core functionality with real life data. This could be in addition to automated tests you would run internally.
You could split the areas they test to reduce the work load - i.e catalog / sales / marketing etc etc
Anyway my 2cents
