Adding attributes

Hi guys, I'm very new with magento and I appreciate a little bit of help please.

Screen Shot 2018-05-17 at 22.58.57.png

This is a category called BBQ, on the left hand side I have "Shop By" Price and Manufacturer,

I want to add another attribute here called "Type" where to show that the product is one of this types : Gas BBQ, Charcoal BBQ, Smoker, Accessories!

Can somebody help me with that please.

Thank you!

Re: Adding attributes

Hi @cristian_weszer,

I guess you'll find this link useful: https://docs.magento.com/m2/ce/user_guide/catalog/navigation-layered-filterable-attributes.html

There you'll see how to configure the layered navigation and how to set up the attributes to be used with your products.

Re: Adding attributes

Hello @cristian_weszer

Make sure attribute type is drop-down or multiple select.

Make sure attribute show in layer navigation yes.

hope it will help you.

Re: Adding attributes

Hi @cristian_weszer,

Now you need to add the attribute to the attribute set, and then assign a value to that attribute for products under that category.

Can you check that?

Also, is your category set as "Is anchor" = "Yes" ?

Re: Adding attributes

I will take pics tomorrow and post them here.
Thank you kindly for your help.

Re: Adding attributes

The Anchor is Yes,

Re: Adding attributes

I didn't really get how to add the attribute to the attribute set... should I just click on "add new set"?

Re: Adding attributes

Hi @cristian_weszer,

Try adding your new attribute to the default attribute set.

https://docs.magento.com/m2/ce/user_guide/stores/attribute-sets.html

You don't need (you can, but you don't need) to create a new attribute set. At least you are currently using several attribute sets add it to the defualt set.

Re: Adding attributes

I don't know how to do it from here.
