Change hundreds of Grouped products to Configurable products

Hi.
We are on 1.7 version and about to upgrade to 1.9 version.
As part of the work we are wondering if its possible to change a few hundred GROUPED PRODUCTS into CONFIGURABLE Products via a script or plugin.. (or any other way).

Hi John.

Magento out -of-the-box does not have option to change products type, so if you are interested in the extension, you can use Store Manager for Magento. Using it you will be able to change type for lots of goods massively without tech skills.

Please note, since Configurable products are built in other way that grouped, the associations will be lost and you will have to either re-assign simple products with correct configurable attributes or regenerate them using Store Manager in 2 clicks:
