How to edit default attributes?

I want to edit a default attribute according to my need. Weight, in particular has distinct whole number value for my store but, by default it is set as text field and it is disabled too to edit.

I want a drop-down option so that I can add my distinctive weights.

Please help me on this.

Which's version of Magento you used? Magento 1 or 2?

By default Magento 1, you can't change Catalog Input Type for Store Owner of attribute after saving it into database. I have a suggestion: you should disable Weight attribute default, and then create new attribute weight with different attribute code.
