"product in websites" tab not displayed

We have a functioning live site. In an admin product page the "product in websites" tab in the left hand options is not displayed. To my knowledge it never has been.

Is this normal or should it be displayed?

Hi @Aidy,

I am assuming you mean "Websites" on the Product Information page under Catalog > Manage Products is not showing. 

If you have a single store Magento this is normal, as it only appears when you have a Magento with multiple store views. Please see the below:
