Order confirmation email not sent to customer only to store owner

Hi all,

i have been spending the last week trying to figure out the root cause for this issue

some facts

cron php setup correctly , both on server and in magento

updated to mage 1.9.2.4  this is when the problems started

installed aoe scheduler to monitor cron jobs, working fine

have mandrill + mailchimp set up

the issue

order confirmation emails are sent properly to the store owner ( can see the emails fine in mandrill outbound queue)

customer however is not receiving any confirmation emails..  , they are just not send ( so not in spam)

admin backend : sales orders confirms this , when viewing an order it  says : 

Order # 400000026 (the order confirmation email is not sent)

in the comments section on the order it says:

Customer Notification Not Applicable

manually sending the order works

clearly this is a bug in magento

would like/appreciate some help in solving this..

Have you checked table core_email_queue ?

It should contains one row for each email, and one row for each recipients  core_email_queue_recipients

What email type you have there?
