URL friendly for layer navigation (filter) urls

For converting old site urls (on another platform), there have
I'm convertiong an old shop (on another platform) to magento, there has been some categories on old platform that designed as filterable attributes at new site (like gender).

old url: myshop.com/woman

new url: myshop.com/?gender=652

I know there are numbers of extensions that do the job, but there is only 10 of these urls. i prefer not using these extension, i just wonder if anything i can do to manually add these as "core url rewrite" on magento? an insert a row on databse, or editing core codes?

You could use a rewrite in your .htaccess file in order to acheive this.

I don't think you're going to be able to easily achive this in a product rewrite to be honest; hence the htaccess solution.
