One of the most brilliant hack. If you can't make the Cron work on you shared hosting. This is the only way to make Magento send mail (without queuing) as soon as new order is placed.

I have tried so many different ways to fix this no email going out for orders issue. But none of them seem to work..
When it comes to the cron job command: php -f /home/username/public_html/cron.php

how can I find out what I put in where it says /username/ would that be my domain name. So would it be:
php -f /home/healthproducts.com/public_html/cron.php  or would it just be php -f /home/healthproducts/public_html/cron.php

For the person like me who does not understand code this works, SMTP Pro Email Extension just make sure you do not use the queue option, set to never.

We have SMTP Pro Email Extension and our emails still don't send.  I turned off the Queue and got rid of Gmail.  Our mail is now on the website server but I don't know the correct configuration.  Are there instructions somewhere?
