Hello, Complete novice needs help

v1.9 503 Service temporarily available after backup, cant get to either site or admin I set a backup for website yesterday after security scan suggested need to add patches. Site was put in maintenance mode hasn't auto come back out after backup.   I have no idea how to get it back out as can't access admin pages.  

How/Where do i run command   listed at top of post

Try seeing if the file maintenance.flag exist in your Magento root directory. 

If you see this file, remove it and the error will go away.

Thanks for your help, we did manage to resolve the problem though another
answer, but since then I have completely messed site up by trying to upgrade
it to a newer 1.9 version!

I'm getting prices now to change completely to Magento 2 or another
supplier.
