SUPEE-8788 (V2) -- SUPEE-3941 is it safe to apply to 1.7.0.2?

SOLVED

You need to put some output out for us to be able to fix it. If you say "it doesnt work" / "it doesnt upgrade"  - - we dont know why it doesnt and we wont be able to help.

Otherwise I suggest biting the bullet and upgrading to 1.9

I can confirm, SUPEE 3941 patches on 1.7.0.2  and then you can install SUPEE 8788... So far I have not found any issues.... Make sure to clear your cache... browser and Magento cache!

This is great news.  Do you use Authorize.net on your site by chance?  I keep reading about issues with Authorize.net with the new patch, I want to make sure they are fixable before I proceed with 8788.

No I do not use Authorize.net.... Authorize.net probably will not be fixed by a patch... hire a developer.

got any links?

On dev site I'm using test credentials so I might not be able to see any issues.

But Authorize.net is having an outage today and their Credit Card service is degraded right now:

https://status.authorize.net/

Degraded performance:

 -- Settlement/Batching
 -- Credit Cards
 -- eCheck.Net/ACH

They pushed an update overnight so thats why people might be having issues.

PS: i would recommend subscribing to their status page so you could get all the updates about the service. Alternatively you should get an additional Gateway just in case these kinds of things happen. Paypal / Braintree / etc.

Update;
PayPal Express and Paypal Credit cards payment (merchant pro) works fine.

installing SUPEE-3941 on magento 1.7.0.2 makes it possible to install SUPEE-8788, but there are further errors. I am not able to login on the front-end. Here's a respective forum thread - can you help please?

Re: SUPEE-8788 (V2) -- SUPEE-3941 is it safe to apply to 1.7.0.2?

I downloaded SUPEE-8788 last week, installed it on our 1.7.0.2 store, and it broke Authorize.net

I tested checkout with a fake credit card number ('4' followed by '1' repeating fifteen times).  Upon submitting such orders, I usually get a popup about the transaction being declined but this time no such popup showed.  Usually Authorize.net sends an email for declined transactions, but I got no email.  This suggests the issue is somewhere in the code that reaches out to Authorize.net as opposed to the code that handles the response data.

I have the following patches installed on top of 1.7.0.2 based on app/etc/applied.patches.list

SUPEE-2677 v2
SUPEE-1049 v1
SUPEE-5345 v1
SUPEE-5994 v1
SUPEE-6285 v1
SUPEE-6482 v1
SUPEE-6788 v1
SUPEE-7405-CE-1-7-0-2 v1
SUPEE-7405 v1.1
SUPEE-3941 v1
SUPEE-1533 v1
