Authorize.net Direct Post MD5 => SHA512 Update

I have been reading multiple threads on the change to authorize.nets md5sum response, but I cannot find out if anyone has a solution for updating 1.9x to make it compatible with the new system? Do I simple have to remove any checks that require md5sum?

I cannot seem to find out what to do and time is ticking. Is Magento even working on this? I really would appreciate any help with this.

Is there an update on this? I am sure plenty of people are waiting for an answer anywhere. I'd like to know at least so I can plan either way.
