I am trying to attach special prices to a lot of my products individually but instead of a Special Price box to enter the specail price on the back end the option says trade price? How can I make a special price if there is not a special price box option to enter the special price I want to attach?
I do have the From and To calender options to choose applicable dates but not any Special Price option, just a Trade price as mentioned. Please help me from going made. Thanks

From looking at that, to me it looks like Display price is where you should put the sale price if there's a discount price available. If you use that field for the discounted price, does that work as you expect? (after reindex, cache flush etc)
To make it clearer, when you edit the Display Price attribute you could update the label to Special Price.
I'm not familiar with a trade price option. That either is custom field or an extension/theme has translated it. What happens when you put a price in the trade price field. Does it function on the frontend as if it was a sale price? Could you share a screenshot of your admin product edit screen please?
I have tried to enter a special price in the trade price option box for lots of products but it does not then attach a special price on the front end view for customers? Wierdly it does show some special prices on a randomn item/s but not with all the ones I am/have tried to make special price. Here is a screen shot of the back end price page that I see when I try to add a special price. https://screenshots.firefox.com/gLDNgU5Pw2tQQLXK/www.edgeriders.com
Please help as I am going mad trying to sort this.
Would you be able to go to Catalog > Manage Attributes. In this grid, it would be interesting to see what the codes are for Trade Price, Buy Price and Display Price. I would wager that the code for Display Price is "special_price" with a label of "Display Price". Whichever attribute has a code of "special_price" is the one that you're looking for.
Hi Tom,
Thank you so far for pointing me in the right direction.
I have taken a screen shot of the special_price' in the attribute code row and its attributes. As you can see it does show 'Display Price' as shown in this screen shot

Upon opening up the edit product attribute "Display Price" it shows these settings in a screen shot for you

I'm afraid to make changes that may not be the ones i need to make.
Thank you
