configurable product is not showing in search if any of it's simple product has qty=0

hi
if I set qty 0 to any of the associated simple product of a configurable product,

then the respective configurable product is not appearing in quick search.
Can we overcome this?
If we set qty 0 to 1 or like that then that conf product is showing.
But if we set qty 0 then not.

Do you have "Display Out of Stock Products" set to "yes" in System > Configuration > Catalog > Inventory?
