images not loading on frontend after image cache flush

After doing an image cache flush the images are not regenerating and not loading. Only default magento place holders are showing. I also have customized place holders that I have uploaded and those are not showing either.

Maybe is a permission issue on your OS? Can you check that first?

I have played around with the permissions multiple times as was suggested by other posts, without any success,

I finally was able to resolve the issue.

It seems that magento was having an issue reading memory_limit=2G.

I changed the value back to 512M and then everything was loading back up again.
