Displaying prices on product page

I have been playing around with Magento and am finding it hard to get my head around it after coming from ZenCart/OpenCart.

On the product display page it displays the price including and excluding VAT. However, when I add a Special Price, only the Special Price including and excluding VAT is displayed. I would like the normal excluding VAT price to be display (lined out) then Special price including and excluding VAT to be displayed. Is this possible?

I managed to fix the issue. The problem was in the file public_html/app/design/frontend/default/XXXX/template/catalog/product/price.phtml. I replaced it with the original base price.phtml file and it now works.
