I am trying to manage the database manually can anyone help me in this to do the maintenance of database in magento i need some guidance like when to clear the database cache etc..

Now i am currently developed a online store website now i don't know how to work with the database on remote server so i need to manage the data for that i need to know when to clear the log of database what is the time duration in which i need to clear the log like every month or what
