Hello all. Newbie designer here looking to remove the category block from layered navigation on my website. I have spent a few days trying to find the answer to this and have tried no less than 6 different approaches from multiple forums. Wondering if someone here would be able to point me in the right direction.
Maybe I am not wording my question incorrectly, and what I am looking to accomplish has already been answered.
Most of the categories on our website are anchors, as I would like for them to have multiple filters. However, I would like to remove the category block from the left-side navigation bar, as all categories are available in the top menu bar, without removing any of the attribute filters. I have searched this forum and stack overflow, finding many contradicting answers, some stating to make changes to view.phtml, others saying make changes in local.xml, some stating catalog.xml. I have tried all these methods, in multiple locations, however, nothing seems to remove the block.
We are using Magento Community Edition 1.9.2.4 if that makes any difference. Our website can be viewed at https://www.wideworldofimports.com
UPDATE: I was finally able to disable the category block in layered navigation. There was an extension which was included with our template, where the changes needed to be made instead of the default folder.
