Can't upgrade Magento from 1.7x to 1.9x - no core extensions / modules show

Hi can anyone please help. I have Magento 1.7.0.2 but I seem to be stuck with it!

 

Both the command line update and Magento Connect updater show only the 3rd party apps I've installed and not the core modules. So there is no option to update them to the latest version...

 

Can anyone suggest how I can get them to show so they're there to upgrade please? Thanks for any help.

Check permission/user of Cache.cfg and connect.cfg in the downloader/ folder. Setting the proper permission and user of these file should solve the issue.

Hi thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the correct user and permissions are already set for those files... My site user and 0644 permissions...

 

Is there anything else I can do to fix this please?
