Easiest way to transfer data from 1.4.x to 1.9.x

Hi there,

I need to transfer data (customer data, product data and order data) from a 1.4.x database to a 1.9.x database. The two installations are already in place and there is also a copy of the ols database and the new database.

Could you please advise how this can be done?

Thanks,

Dave.

Re: Easiest way to transfer data from 1.4.x to 1.9.x

Hello Dave,

There is no need for two installations. Please just update your magento 1.4 to latest magento version 1.9.2.4.

Please just backup your files and database before upgrade.

Please follow standard magento upgrade procedure.

Thanks

Re: Easiest way to transfer data from 1.4.x to 1.9.x

Hi,

thanks for the tip, but somehow I messed things up and I get a

SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user...

 when trying to access the shop now. Could someone please assist?

Thanks.

OR an

Error in file: "/kunden/252043_4020/public_html/shop/app/code/core/Mage/Admin/sql/admin_setup/mysql4-install-0.7.0.php" - SQLSTATE[42S01]: Base table or view already exists: 1050 Table 'admin_assert' already exists

 like this. I think this time I got the user and password right. How can I fix this?

Re: Easiest way to transfer data from 1.4.x to 1.9.x

So I figured the problem out so far.

The thing was, that the local.xml wasn't really fitting the database. The database had a Prefix "shop_" which was not configured in the local.xml file. That's why Magento tried to update.

The next error I ran into, was that the admin access didn't work. This was because the

<admin>
<routers>
<adminhtml>
<args>
<frontName>

was also incorrect. I have no idea how they managed that, but I'm cleverer now, so...

Re: Easiest way to transfer data from 1.4.x to 1.9.x

Hi,

I'm not sure that will be so easy, because now I pointed the new installation to a copy of the old database and it's running into all sorts of troubles (General errors, collate things,...) while upgrading it. Or will it be easier when I upgrade the old installation?

Just a question Smiley Wink

Thanks,

Dave.

Re: Easiest way to transfer data from 1.4.x to 1.9.x

Hello

Please just upgrade the old installation to new magento version but be sure your cache is disabled.

After completion of all things clear your cache and do indexing than you will never face such issue.

If the other has same problem with large-scale store, you can contact magento upgrade experts such as Cart Migration - Lit to receive a help to upgrade magento 1.9.
