Migrating 1.2 to 2.1

Dear Team,

I am used very old version of magento. Now i want to Migrate my date into magento 2.2. Is it possible to migrating the data? Any way is there?

Hi @premalatha_s

Yes to migrate the data from magento 1 to magento 2 - Magento itself have created a tool called - Data Migration Tool.

Which is useful for migrating data from Magento 1 to Magento 2.

You can also download tool from github - https://github.com/magento/data-migration-tool

Note : Migration tool have specific Magento Version required for Magento 1 like it is work with  Magento 1 version 1.6x to 1.9x(Latest version) - So make sure you upgrade your magento 1 version at least to 1.6x to use data migration too.

Once upgrade into above 1.6 version then only we can able to migrating data from 1.x into 2.2 version

Yes , That is correct !! as data migration tool is supporting 1.6x to 1.9x(latest) for Magento 1.

so you at least need to upgrade your magento version 1.2x to 1.6x

Hello @premalatha_s

you need at least Magento 1.6.* to upgrade to magento 2 version.

you can do like this

take the current db 

install fresh Magento 1.9.* and configure that db with that ( it will upgrade your db to latest Magento 1 version)

After did that you need to Magento 2 migration tool for migrating to Magento 2.
