1 x company 5 x domains

Hi,

we are a Ltd UK company and we have 5 to 8 domain names and wish to use Magento in the following was:

domainA - main website (Magento community 2.4) - category1, category2, category3, category4 and category5 - checkout (domainA on customers statement)

domainB - channel2 - category1 - checkout (domainB on customers statement)

domainC - channel3 - category2 - checkout (domainC on customers statement)

DomainD - channel4 - category3 - checkout (domainD on customers statement)

DomainE - channel5 - category4 - checkout (domainE on customers statement)

DomainF - channel6 - category5 - checkout (domainF on customers statement)

so my questions are:

1. Is the above possible?

2. how is the best way to take payment (I was hoping for one account with each domain listed within it)?

3. best way to arrange the domain (currently have them parked on domainA in cPanel)?

4, recommendation of payment provider (not PayPal or where I have to load my products on)?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

kind Regards

Simon

Hi @tacotilesl7c5a

Yes, your requirements for using Magento to manage multiple domains with distinct categories and checkout processes are feasible. Here's a breakdown of how you can approach each of your questions:

  1. Setting Up Multiple Domains in Magento:

    • Magento Configuration: In Magento, set up each domain as a separate website. Navigate to Stores > Settings > All Stores in the Magento Admin. Here, create a new website, store, and store view for each domain.
    • Category Assignment: Assign specific categories to each website/store view. This can be managed under Catalog > Categories in the Magento Admin.
    • Base URLs: For each website, configure the base URLs to match the corresponding domain. Go to Stores > Configuration > Web and set the Base URL for each website scope.
  2. Payment Processing Configuration:

    • Single Payment Gateway Account: Use a payment gateway that supports specifying transaction source or domain. In Magento, configure the payment methods under Stores > Configuration > Sales > Payment Methods. Make sure to set this up at the website level, not globally, to specify different transaction sources per domain.
    • Customer Statement Descriptor: Some payment gateways allow you to set a dynamic 'statement descriptor' per transaction, which can be used to reflect the correct domain on customer statements.
  3. Domain Management in cPanel:

    • Addon Domains: Convert your parked domains to addon domains in cPanel. Each addon domain should point to the root directory of your Magento installation.
    • DNS Configuration: Ensure that the DNS records for each domain are correctly pointing to your Magento server's IP address.
  4. Choosing a Payment Provider:

    • Integration with Magento: Select a payment provider that offers robust Magento integration. This will ensure smooth transaction processes for each domain.
    • Multi-Domain Support: The provider should support transactions from multiple domains under one account, with the capability to specify the domain per transaction.
    • Provider Options: Consider providers like Stripe, Adyen, or Worldpay, as they are known for their flexibility and comprehensive support for Magento.

Hi there,

As for the payment processing questions, Adobe offers Payment Services for Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source which uses PayPal on the back end for processing. It also supports the setup you are looking for across several sites.

Re: 1 x company 5 x domains

Hi @tacotilesl7c5a,

Here are answers to your questions:

  • Is the above possible? Yes, it's possible to set up multiple storefronts with different domain names using Magento 2.4. Each storefront can have its own unique domain name, design, categories, products, and checkout process.

  • How is the best way to take payment? You can use a single payment gateway account and configure it to accept payments for all your storefronts. Most payment gateway providers offer options to configure multiple domains under a single account. You'll need to set up the payment methods within Magento for each storefront, and configure them to use the same payment gateway account.

  • Best way to arrange the domain (currently have them parked on domainA in cPanel)? Since you have the domains parked on domainA in cPanel, you can configure each domain to point to the respective storefront in Magento. This involves setting up the appropriate domain pointers or redirects within your cPanel account to ensure that each domain directs users to the correct storefront.

  • Recommendation of payment provider (not PayPal or where I have to load my products on)? There are several payment gateway providers you can consider, depending on your location, business requirements, and customer preferences. Some popular payment gateway providers include Stripe, Authorize.Net, Square, Braintree, and Worldpay. You'll need to evaluate the features, fees, and integration options offered by each provider to choose the one that best suits your needs.

Here are some factors to consider when choosing a payment provider:

  • Supported countries and currencies
  • Accepted payment methods (credit/debit cards, digital wallets, etc.)
  • Transaction fees and pricing structure
  • Security and compliance with PCI-DSS standards
  • Integration options with Magento 2
  • Customer support and reputation in the industry

It's important to thoroughly research and test the payment provider's services before integrating it into your Magento storefronts. Additionally, ensure that the payment provider supports multi-domain configurations if you plan to use the same account for multiple storefronts.

By setting up multiple storefronts with different domain names and configuring a single payment gateway account to accept payments for all your storefronts, you can effectively manage your e-commerce operations across various channels while providing a seamless checkout experience for your customers.
