Images not changing on Product Variants

AFAIK the default behaviour when chosing a variant on the product page is, that the images is also changing to the variants picture.

It used to work in my shop, but it stopped working somehow and I don't know why. I tried to mimic this on my test installation, but it is working there.

Is there a configuration setting, which sets this?

Looking for some help to get this feature working again or at least how I can debug this.

Hello @christian_meyer 

There is no configuration available for this functionality from the Magento Admin. The Configuration is for the cart page in Magento admin. but not for the product page.
