Multi-store and shared cart setup in 2.4

Hey all, just a quick question.  

A developer I work with told me that the functionality to share a shopping cart between multiple stores on the same instance was removed from Magento (2.3?).  Is this true?  I can't find any documentation that indicates it no longer exists.

Nevermind... Can't find a way to delete the original message, so I'll just do a followup.  

Shared cart still works just fine, tested in Mage 2.4.2 with 2 stores and the demo data.  My source was mistaken.

we tried to set up a shared cart in a multi-store website. Unfortunately it does only work if the user is logged in. We did the setup following all the mentioned links like

Do anyone has an idea what can cause the problem? How can we make it work with guests, too?
