hyperlinks added to body copy in articles are NOT showing in the front end (despite flushing cache)

help please...I'm so confused!

I have (what seems successful) added hyperlinks into the body copy of the News Articles > Content. However, when i save and refresh the page, they are not there and its just the plain text

I have flushed the cache many times and nothing has changed.

I have no idea what to try....

Version is 2.2.0

Hi, thanks for replying...

here's how I went about it, highlighted the text and hyperlinked to a link- however as soon as i press 'insert' the box disappears and nothing happens? very odd!
