I don't believe there's been anything announced about this right now. I imagine we'll have a few small 2.2.x releases and then I expect we can see a 2.3 release sometime next year. There will be a desire for this to be out in time for April for Magento Imagine and will release some of the PWA tools (in all likelihood).
