Best way to run dev to live on Magento 2

Hi All 

Im looking for the best solution to run a dev server and live. The live server will be having merchandising on it and the dev server will be for modules and system changes. We may need a dev - production - live. 

Anybody have any information on the best practice to do this and any problems to look out for?

Since that is a broad question, I would like to know more about it.

Are you referring to general advice regarding setting up a developer workflow from development to staging, and from staging to production?

Or are you referring to advice related setting up Magento 2 in a development and production servers?

Yes we are looking to set up a developer workflow from development to staging, and from staging to production?

We will have merchandisers from other companies logging in to make product changes and we will have live sales on the database, we are looking at database version control and git at the moment. But any suggestions for best practice would be great so we get the best solution in place
