Files prommision on server

Hi

I just updated my pre-live site to the latest  version before updating the live site

But I run into a problem as some files I can not overwrite in the root pre-live server so I can not replace the files

Can you help as I need it to update the live site to latest version

You can use a version control system like git to sync the code on the server
