Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

I am currently using Magemojo for hosting an M 1.9. site. In the process of launching  2.3.1 and trying to make a final decision on whom the best hosting option would be for Managed VPS. I have no complaints with Magemojo, because of them moving away from VPS hosting and moving to Stratus (cloud hosting) for now I need to look for a cheaper option at the same time looking for great service and support. Currently with Magemojo I am using 1 CPU, 4 GB Ram, 50 GB Storage, 500 GB Bandwidth. Site is very fast and never had any issues running on this server. I have pretty much narrowed my decision down to A2 Hosting and Inmotion. Looked at Nexess however only shared and cloud. I am looking for a host company that is very knowledgeable with Magento and can help with any performance issues. Hoping someone can give me advice on the two choices or if you have better choices, please advise. Magento hosting specialist needed. One more thing we will be needing them to also host our Wordpress Blog at the same time.

Re: Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

So what you are saying is MageMojo is forcing you off your current plan and getting you to move to their Stratus plan? That seem a bit odd.

I wouldn't recommend A2Hosting or Inmotion as both of them are not specialized in Magento so their servers may not be properly optimized for Magento and you may face difficulties when you need any assistance for any Magento related matters or issues.

Re: Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

I'd agree with James Lee (JLHC), who founded a hosting company. You'll get the best results out of a host that truly focuses on Magento.

I don't know your exact budget constraints, but I can guess based on MageMojo's costs. I strongly believe that Magento is best operated in a single-tenant dedicated environment with particular optimizations, updates to the hosting layer, security, and monitoring. When you don't have the right team behind you, it can cost you a lot in the long-run.

Based on the choices that you're evaluating, I'd be leaning toward Nexcess for a shared or cloud environment because of their optimization and support around Magento. If you had a bigger budget for a dedicated server, I'd have other recommendations.

Best of luck!

Re: Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

Yes Magemojo is discontinuing their VPS Plans and forcing us to Status. And hosting companies that does not specialize is Magento would be a problem for me because I do depend on them alot for tweaking the site/server for best performance. I would not mind trying Nexess however I see Nexess only has shared, dedicated and cloud plans but not VPS. Need more than shared however cloud and dedicated is out of my budget. I assume Magemojo and Nexess are about the only two who specialize in Magento Hosting

Re: Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

Nexcess does have lower end dedicated plans that are more like a VPS. There are a number of hosts out there that specialize in Magento and offer VPS plans tailored ecommerce merchants using Magento 1 and/or 2.

Just make sure the host you talk to has specific experience with Magento, and can provide support and performance enhancements on a continual basis for your website.

Re: Magento 2.3.1 Hosting Decision

Hello, i would like to share my experience too. I have tried at the past A2hosting with a VPS 2 CPU - 4GB Ram, Bluehost. From the Blue host i wasn't satisfied at all. At A2hosting i had big TTFB, magento 1.9 over 1.5 sec TTFB. Magento 2 around 1.2 sec. The same installation i transferred it to Cloudways with digitalocean server and the performance goes much better. Magento 1.9 170ms TTFB and magento 2 in VPS 2CPU-4GB TTFB 100ms. I think you must test it if you like to go to a managed hosting

https://www.cloudways.com, otherwise you can try to get directly to DigitalOcean at the half price https://www.digitalocean.com/
