Configurable Product Swatches at launch?

I was wondering if Configurable Product Swatches will be available at launcn for Magento 2 in a similar state that they are in 1.9.1 I noticed that they are not a current feature in Magento 2 Merchant 1.0 beta

It might be a good idea to ask this on the Magento 2 github issues page -- https://github.com/magento/magento2/issues

It is a bit odd that this new version would miss functionality that is in the current latest version.
