Magento 2 Help - Sub-Categories not working on mouse over.

I'm very new to Magento 2 (n00b 100%) - and thanks to a lot of other questions answered by others - I've been able to work my way around and problem solve issues I've faced.

However, I can't seem to find an answer to this, therefore I'm needing to ask the question myself.

Dropdown Menu on site stopped working.

Magento ver. 2.0.12 Using the default theme - Luma

Was working when installed. Only module installed was Banner Slider Magento 2 and have placed 2 banners on the site. Could this be interfering with the dropdown menu?

anyone got any clue? 

The main category shows in the nav menu "products'

However, every sub-category doesn't show on mouse over. 

I have made sure Include in Navigation Menu is set to YES on all of them. 

Banner extension installed is Megastore Banner Slider

I have also tried running the following command and refreshing cache. 

php bin/magento indexer:reindex

A few things to check: 

1. Did you set the category visibility and chose the category to appear in the menu?
2. Are there any products in the subcategory? 
3. Did you deploy the static content after making codebase changes?

Yes - did all the checks suggested. Hasn't fixed the issue.

Could you possibly share the screenshot of your category tree in Magento admin?
