Out of Stock Label

Hi there, firstly please forgive my ignorance, I'm not a developer but I have magento admin access. 

When we make a product in our catalogue 'out of stock' the 'out of stock' label is shown in green with a tick/check mark. This is obviously going to be pretty confusing for our customers. Is there a way I can change this to red and a cross?
