I'm new to Magento 2. In a past life I maintained a OS Commerce site, and have done a ton of custom development in MODx since.
I've got Magento 2.0.4 up and running, and just need to add some custom HTML to the left column on my site. I'm using the stock Luma theme, but have modified the colours and logo. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a static block to the left column. I can modify the layout on various pages to show the left column, and it lists compare products on the left side, but I can't find how to actually replace this with what I need.
Can anyone point me to a step-by-step or walk me through this?
