Different results Sales->Orders vs. Report->Sales->Orders

Hi,

we wanted to evaluate our sales and found two ways to get them:

1. Sales->Orders

2. Report->Sales->Orders

Unfortunately, we got different values. The different was almost 10 percent, what is a lot!

Why is this possible and which way is the right one to see the correct values?

It says 

The report includes the number of orders placed and canceled, with totals for sales, amounts invoiced, refunded, tax collected, shipping charged, and discounts.
