How do I alter the colour of the 'active' text in the navbar

I have managed to alter the colour of the navbar itself, the colour it changes to when is hovered over but I am stuck as to how to alter the colour of the font when the item is selected. I had assumed it was .navigation .active but that does not seem to have made a difference.
