My client is requesting that wholesale customers on his Magento website be able to scan sold items using an RFID scanner and when the total sold quantity reaches a certain amount Magento will automatically add this item to their cart and notify them to login to their account and check out.
My proposed solution is to build an application that will be installed on the customer computer and store the RFID data on it and when the stock reaches the minimum qty the application will send an API call to Magento and Magento will add this item to the customers cart.
I just want to know if this is an optimal solution, or maybe there is a better one that I don't know of? please share if you have knowledge of a situation similar to this.
