shipping address form

I have a current store that uses one page checkout. On the shipping address form I need the ability for the user to select a country. In many of the screen shots I see a country dropdown field. On my current website I do not seem to have a country dropdown field. Is there a way to display this field from the admin area or is this something that needs to be coded into the website? If so, is there any documentation you would point me to in order to accomplish this?

@ty_thompson1 It is by default there.

Please go to stores->configuration->general.

There you find the allowed countries.

You can select all the countries if you want to show all the countries or you can select the countries which you want to show in dropdown.

@Rahul Gupta That is what I thought also. But no matter what I do, a country dropdown never displays.
