Hide products category disabled

I have disabled a category of products that are only for Christmas, but if I use the search engine, the products appear although the category is disabled. How can I do so that the products are also hidden? Do I have to disable the products one by one?

How did you disable category?

Yes the default Magento setup shows products regardless that the category with which it is associated has disabled.

So you need to disable those products. You can select all the products which you want to disable and can disable them in bulk from Action dropdown. Once disabled they will not appear in search.
